Arsenic in Water in Wasilla, Willow, Palmer, Big Lake, and Eagle River
Arsenic is a common water issue in AK, however, it can be easily and affordably removed with a filter from Better Water Alaska.
According to the CDC, “Arsenic can enter the water supply from natural deposits in the earth or from industrial and agricultural pollution. It is widely believed that naturally occurring arsenic dissolves out of certain rock formations when groundwater levels drop significantly. Some industries in the United States release thousands of pounds of arsenic into the environment every year. Once released, arsenic remains in the environment for a long time. Arsenic is removed from the air by rain, snow, and gradual settling. Once on the ground or in surface water, arsenic can slowly enter groundwater. High arsenic levels in private wells may come from certain arsenic-containing fertilizers used in the past or industrial waste. It may also indicate improper well construction or overuse of chemical fertilizers or herbicides in the past.”

We have an Annual Water Maintenance plan with Better Water Alaska (BWA). In 2025, BWA came out to our rentals 7 times, even though we had only paid for four calls in the maintenance plan. These additional calls included one that was after hours on the weekend, and another trip where they left a jobsite in Anchorage. There was also an instance where the garage door had frozen in the open position, and our tenants couldn't get it shut, which caused the plumbing to freeze and the clients to have no water. BWA was able to get the garage door tracks thawed, the door closed and the space heated. BWA did not invoice us for these additional trips, as it was not previously discussed and agreed upon. Although they will bill us for additional trips in the future, which we are happy to pay, we appreciate the fact that BWA went out of their way to help us in our unexpected times of need.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the great review Lynette, we really appreciate it.
We try to always provide great service, and to error to our clients benefit. We knew you had tenants that were in need, and wanted to make sure they were taken care of. It wouldn't have felt right charging additional rates without having discussing the matter prior.
We have your visits on the schedule for the year, and appreciate your continued business.
Installed a water softener and filter timely and professionally at a good price.
Response from the owner:Thanks Drew, We appreciate the great review and your business. We hope you love your new softener, please let us know if you have any questions.
